Awards and Distinctions Bestowed upon the Foundation and its Governing Body by Institutions in Greece and Abroad
Embassy of France in Greece
On Monday, May 10, 2010, Mr. Grabriel de Broglie, Chancellor of the Institute of France has handed, in the presence of French Ambassador to Greece Mr. Christophe Farnaud, insignia of the Knight of the Legion of Honour to Mr. Anthony Papadimitriou, President of the Public Benefit Foundation Alexander S. Onassis and insignia of the Knight of the Legion of Merit to Mr. John Ioannidis, Vice President of the Foundation. The ceremony, which took place in the French Embassy residence, was followed by a reception in the presence of families and friends of the honorees, associates of the Onassis Foundation, and representantives from the world of art and culture, politicians and members of the press.

American Hellenic Institute (AHI), Washington
The American Hellenic Institute bestowed on to the Foundation the Hellenic Heritage National Public Service Award for its outstanding service and dedication to the preservation and promotion of the Hellenic culture and heritage. The award was accepted by the president of the Foundation Mr. Anthony Papadimitriou in the presence of 2,000 distinguished members of the greek communities of North America.

ELEPAP Honors the Foundation
Celebrating 70 years of dedication to helping children with disabilities, the Hellenic Society for Disabled Children (ELEPAP) held a special event to honour the benefactors, sponsors and volunteers that have contributed to the realization of its goals. The special event took place at the Athens Concert Hall on Tuesday November 27th 2007. The President of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, Mr. Anthony S. Papadimitriou received an honorary plaque from the President of ELEPAP Mrs. Mary Karella-Diamandopoulou.

ATHENS MUNICIPALITY HONORS THE FOUNDATION
Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis bestowed the “Athens Medal” on the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation for its significant contribution to the dissemination of Greek Culture. The President of the Foundation, Mr. Anthony S. Papadimitriou received the award on behalf of the Board of Directors, at a special event held at City Hall on Thursday March 22nd 2007.
