Majestic People in Outstanding Places is the title of the work presented by Panagiotis Balomenos at the FAIR artist-in-residence program in Copenhagen. The project is composed by a series of 11 portraits of Her Majesty the Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and 3 sculptures: a bicycle, a bicycle lock and a bottle of beer, all covered by the same silk fabric. The Queen is placed in the middle of several different Danish surroundings, urban landscapes and social events which are inextricably linked with the Danish people. The artist uses this representative of Danish royalty with the intent to bring specific and recognizable symbols closer to our simple human needs through the process of metamorphosis. The work also featured in the group exhibition Do not Touch Please! hosted in Brussels, and in the Black and White exhibition at Bartesera in Athens.
