Dancer and Onassis Foundation scholar Evangelos Poulinas will perform with Lausanne’s Compagnia Linga, in its dance productionof Kiss Me Goodnight. In the summer of 2008, Evangelos presented his choreographic work Myface at the State Theatre of Kassel, Germany, as part of the local Choreografische Werkstatt, with dancers Lilly Stilwell, Benjamin Block and Leila Postakioglou.
As the choreographer himself explains, “Myface is concerned with the various forms of human communication on the Internet, and examines several attitudes and patterns. Myface is an online social networking site that brings people together.
Over the past years, it has proved very controversial. It has been banned in many workplaces in the interest of productivity, as well as in countries such as Syria and Iran. The violation or non-violation of privacy, because of which Myface has often been sued and made to readjust itself, is a debatable issue. Nevertheless, it still remains the most popular networking directory.”
Evangelos Poulinas studied dance at the Greek State School of Dance. He holds an MA degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and is currently about to graduate from the Department of Physical Education and Sport of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In 2004, he directed the videodance Without Trace, which was awarded a prize in the British Council’s “3 in 3” competition. In 2005, Evangelos founded the V. VOID dance group, which has received a grant from the Greek Ministry of Culture for the year 2008. As a dancer he has performed with the Opera Français de New York, Ad Lib and Arthrosis, and in choreographic works of such artists as Wim Vandekeybus, Jasmin Vardimon, Mark Morris, Martha Graham, Pascal Rioult, Nigel Charnock and Constantinos Rigos.
