The soprano Anna Alexopoulou appeared in October 2007 at the 18th Kiev Festival of Classical Music in a series of events celebrating the Maria Callas Year. The concert she gave with Frixos Mortzos on piano was entitled "Greek Lyrical Colours" and included works of contemporary and older Greek composers such as Kalomoiris, Skalkottas, Antoniou, Visvardis, Kouroupos, Koukounaras, Mitropoulos (a mother’s heart 50 years ago) Riadis (first presentation), Chatzidakis and Theodorakis.
A few months earlier she represented Greece in an event that took place in Kuwait for the celebration of Europe Day, following an invitation by the Greek Embassy in Kuwait and under the auspice of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Accompanied by pianist Thomas Kontogiorgis, she presented works for voice and piano by Greek Composers, unraveling the course of Greek musical creation from 1960 until today. More specifically, they interpreted poetry by Giorgos Seferis, Odysseas Elytis, Giannis Ritsos, Nikos Gatsos and others, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Chatzidakis and Stavros Xarchakos.
Finally, last May, Anna Alexopoulou gave a concert entitled "Piazzolla –Chatzidakis: The great erotics" at the "Piraikos Union together with the Tangarto quintet. She performed tango; songs and arias by Astor Piazzolla as well as extracts from the collections "Great Erotic", "Roman Agora", "Reflections" and "The Smile of Gioconda".
Anna Alexopoulou graduated from the National Athens Conservatory and after obtaining a scholarship from the Fulbright Foundation went on to study at the Julliard School of Music in New York. She continued her studies, with the help of a scholarship by the Onassis Foundation, at the University of Washington.
In 1999 she made her debut at the Avery Fisher hall of New York’s Lincoln Center. She continued her career with leading roles in important lyrical theatres, recitals and concerts in Greece and abroad with esteemed orchestras, recordings and tours.
