In June 2008, mezzo-soprano Angelica Cathariou took part in the Athens Festival, performing George Crumb’s Ancient Voices of Children, under the musical direction of Thodoros Antoniou. Moreover, in September 2008, the Spanish record company La Mà de Guido released Angelica’s collaboration with Clotilde Rosa (accompanied by guitarist Paulo Amorim), one of the most important representatives of Portugal’s contemporary learned musical tradition, entitled Músicapara PoesiaPortuguesa.
In May 2008, Angelica appeared as a soloist at the Queen Sophia’s National ArtCentreMuseum in Madrid, performing works by Christóbal Halffter, Luciano Berio, Luis de Pablo and Iannis Xenakis. In Paris, she presented the world première of Miguel Gálvez-Taroncher’s Noche Obscura, under the musical direction of Daniel Dahl.
Angelica also performed as a soloist in Mozart’s Requiem at the Athens Concert Hall, with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), under the musical direction of Vladimiros Symeonidis, as well as in the concert cycle “20th and 21st Century Musics – Now and Then”, “Postmodernism”, “KV 21, Under Wolfgang Amadeus’ Gaze” and “Hellenic Music Festivals”, performing works by Alkis Blatas, Dimitris Lionis, Giorgos Zervos, and Joseph Papadatos, under the musical direction of Thodoros Antoniou.
Invited by the “The Pharos Trust Recital Series”, she presented a French music recital in Nicosia with pianist Emmanuel Olivier, and also appeared in the 30th International Festival of Sacred Music at Sylvanès Abbey, performing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.
