Holder of an Onassis Foundation scholarship over the period 2004-2006, Katia Paschou is the winner of the Artists International Presentations Special Prize, recently awarded in New York City. On 4 May 2008, she performed at the Weill Recital Hall, thus making her Carnegie Hall début. The event was made possible with the support of the affiliated Onassis Foundation (USA) and the Greek Embassy in Washington, DC.
Katia Paschou presented the world première of Joseph Papadatos’ A Short Story, Op. 92, which is based on five poems by Giorgos Koropoulis, as well as a programme of works by Brahms, Delibes, Granados, Händel, Benedetto Marcello, Mozart, Poulenc, and Ravel. Special guest artists included Manolis Papasifakis (piano), Mary Barto (flute), and Joseph Meyers (cello).
Katia Paschou holds a BA in Theatre Studies from the University of Athens, School of Philosophy, and has attended master classes with Teresa Berganza, Costa Paschalis, Dalton Baldwin, David Jones, and Marilyn Horne. Over the period 2001-2004, she collaborated with the Greek National Opera in such leading roles as those of Pamina, Papagena, Agathe, and Cenerentola, and she also performed often at the renowned Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens. In July 2007, she collaborated with the ERT (National Greek Broadcasting Corporation) Symphony Orchestra in a live broadcast concert of Greek operetta works under the direction of maestro Andreas Pylarinos.
