The Affiliated Foundation aims at promoting Greek culture by means of exhibitions and other cultural events. This is accomplished through the organization of exhibitions and educational events based on Classical, Byzantine and contemporary Greek culture in the Onassis Cultural Centre. Exhibitions of archaeology, contemporary art and sculpture, lectures, concerts and dramatic readings are offered for free to the citizens of New York.

When organizing exhibitions of art and archaeology, the affiliated Foundation collaborates as needed with the Greek Ministry of Culture, the major Greek museums, and important cultural institutions and museums in Europe and the U.S.

The exhibitions, which are supervised by scholars of international acknowledgement, are always accompanied by catalogues and educational leaflets and posters, which are offered to all visitors to selected scientific and educational institutions in the USA and Europe.

Furthermore, the exhibitions are accompanied by educational events and activities such as one-day scientific meetings, circles of conversation, lectures, and a special educational programme that can be accessed through the Foundations official website. Guided tours are provided by experts for American and Greek-American schools, universities, high-level officials of museums and educational or cultural foundations in the US, diplomatic and consular representatives, and for the general public. Entry to the above events is free to the public.

Beside the exhibitions, the Onassis Cultural Centre in New York organizes various cultural events that often travel the country and are presented in other cities of America, e.g. Washington, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Vancouver.

To date, a large number of musical performances, events dedicated to the ancient Greek theatre and ancient Greek writers and poets, and a celebration of contemporary poetry and literature, as well as lectures and academic conferences have been held. The exhibitions and cultural events of the Onassis Cultural Centre in New York always receive extensive coverage from the most famous American and international media.

In some cases, the affiliated Foundation offers distinctive financial support to artistic or cultural initiatives that promote Greek Culture in the US.
