On Monday April 4th 2011, Paul J. Ioannidis, Honorary Vice-President of
the Onassis Foundations Board of Directors was presented with the
Seatrade Lifetime Achievement Award.
This important
distinction has been granted to only a few people up until now. Paul J.
Ioannidis was presented with this Award in recognition of his
contribution in shipping and particularly for his initiative to
introduce aviation philosophy, style and strict safety standards and
procedures to the maritime education and training in order to manage
the weakness of human factor. Afterwards, these processes were adopted
as internationally acceptable safety rules. Also, he has been awarded
for his contribution to the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation, as head of
its shipping activities for many years and for his active participation
in the founding and developing of the Foundation as a life member of
the Board of Directors.
